The following is a caseload data comparison between Fiscal Year 2010-2011 and Fiscal Year 2009-2010.
1) CAPITAL CASES appointed & reopened increased by +35 cases or a +4% increase. There were 870 capital cases in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
2) NON-CAPITAL CASES appointed & reopened drcreased by -16,201 or a -5% decrease. There were 318,914 non-capital cases in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
3) MISDEMEANOR INCLUDING TRAFFIC appointed & reopened decreased by -12,948 cases or -4%. There were 342,398 misdemeanor including traffic cases in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
4) COUNTY TO CIRCUIT COURT APPEALS appointed & reopened increased by +23 cases or a +11% increase. There were 241 county to circuit court appeals in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
5) JUVENILE CASES appointed & reopened decreased by -6,543 cases or a decrease of -8%. There were 71,839 juvenile cases in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
6) MENTAL HEALTH CASES appointed & reopened increased by +357 cases or a +1% increase. There were 27,274 mental health cases in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
7) SEXUAL VIOLENT PREDATOR CASES appointed & reopened increased by 36 cases or a -31% increase. There were 153 sexual violent predator cases in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
8) TRIALS reported were 22,033 or 12,967 more trials for a 143% increase.
OVERALL TRIAL LEVEL CASES:
761,689 cases were appointed & reopened and cases decreased by -35,241 or a -4% overall decrease for Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
APPEALS ASSIGNED:
1) CAPITAL APPEALS remain unchanged from Fiscal Year 2009-2010. There were 21 capital appeals in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
2) NON-CAPITAL APPEALS were down by -7% or -402 less. There were 5,241 non-capital appeals in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
3) SEXUAL VIOLENT PREDATOR APPEALS were down by -9% or 3 less. There were 30 sexual violent appeals in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
OVERALL APPEALS ASSIGNED:
5,544 appeals were assigned. An overall decrease in all appeals assigned was down -7% or -395 less appeals in Fiscal Year 2010-2011.
