CAPITAL CASES
appointed & reopened increased by 87 cases or a 8.8%
increase. There were 1017 capital cases in Fiscal Year
2006-2007.
2)
NON-CAPITAL CASES
appointed & reopened increased by 11,936 or a 3.4%
increase. There were 368,127 non-capital cases in Fiscal
Year 2006-2007.

MISDEMEANOR INCLUDING
TRAFFIC appointed & reopened cases decreased by
-19,240 cases or -4.6%. There were 394,359 misdemeanor
including traffic cases in Fiscal Year 2006-2007.

COUNTY TO CIRCUIT COURT
APPEALS appointed & reopened cases decreased by
20 cases or a -7.1% decrease. There were 262 county to
circuit court appeals in Fiscal Year 2006-2007.

JUVENILE CASES appointed
& reopened cases increased by 2,950 cases or an
increase of 3.7%. There were 82,604 juvenile cases in
Fiscal Year 2006-2007.

MENTAL HEALTH CASES
appointed & reopened cases decreased by -662 or a
-2.8% decrease. There were 22,609 mental health cases in
Fiscal Year 2006-2007.

SEXUAL VIOLENT PREDATOR
CASES appointed & reopened increased by 57 cases
or a 61.3% increase. There were 150 sexual violent
predator cases in Fiscal Year 2006-2007.

TRIALS
reported were 7,711 or -1001 less trials for a -11.5%
decrease.
OVERALL TRIAL LEVEL CASES:
870,128 cases were appointed & reopened and cases
decreased by -4,897 or a -.6% overall decrease for
Fiscal Year 2006-2007.
APPEALS ASSIGNED:
1)
CAPITAL APPEALS were
down by 26% or 2 less capital appeals assigned. There
were 15 capital appeals in Fiscal Year 2006-2007.
2)
NON-CAPITAL APPEALS
were up by 4.8% or 251 more non-capital appeals. There
were 5,460 non-capital appeals in Fiscal Year 2006-2007.
3)
SEXUAL VIOLENT PREDATOR
APPEALS were up by 20.5% or 8 more sexual violent
predator appeals. There were 47 sexual violent appeals
in Fiscal Year 2006-2007.
OVERALL APPEALS ASSIGNED:
5,593 appeals were assigned. An overall increase in all
appeals assigned was 5.0% or 264 more appeals.
